Class Reunion - The 2007 Variety

The 54th Year Reunion for the Huntingdon High School Class of '53 has come and gone and, as always, ... leaving a trail of memories. These memories are always so wonderful ... for classmates who attend.

Yes, on April 20th and 21st, 2007, we met again at Paris Landing State Park near Paris with our classmates - friends "til death do us part" and the kind of friends that seem as much like family members as any original sibling ever seemed to be.

Total attendance for each of the two nights was as follows:

Friday night (04/20): 6 Total: 4 Classmates (plus 1 spouse and 1 friend)
Saturday night (04/21): 34 Total: 21 Classmates (plus 13 spouses)
It was wonderful to have Bobby Guy Murphy with us again this year. Bobby came again after having missed the last three years. It was his second time to attend our class reunions.

Furthermore, you may see the names of all of our classmates, who were here at Paris Landing for one or both nights by clicking here.

Again this year, the reunion was at the Paris Landing State Park, near Paris, TN, for both days/nights.

Again, we sure missed the ones who were not with us.

Thanks to our very own Billy Jarrett ... who supplied all the pictures ... we have a pictorial slideshow below ... for your enjoyment.

After arriving on Saturday, we gathered in the Class of '53 hospitality room until around 5:30 PM. Then it was off to the dining room where we were seated together for the evening meal.

Afterwards, we returned to the hospitality room where the business portion of our reunion got underway at around 7:30. Our president, Butch Reams, moderated.

Items of business were as follows:
  • We voted to return to Natchez Trace State Park (Pin Oak Lodge) for next year's reunion. Also, the dates for next year were set for April 11th and 12th, 2008.

  • Butch read a note from Nancy Fullerton. It said that, in the future, she would not be able to send out announcements about our annual reunion. Butch Reams took over the responsibility for sending out these announcements.

  • A suggestion was made to change the time for our class meal from the normal eating time of 6:00 PM. Now the meal will be scheduled as a noontime meal (12:00 o'clock) instead.Note 1

These are the only items of business that can be remembered at this time. If any of you, who attended, remember more ... then please send an email to:    .
After the business meeting adjourned, all classmates continued to renew "auld acquaintances" for awhile in order to "get our tanks refilled" with all the love that we have one for another. Then, at about 9 o'clock, several classmates began drifting off into the sunset but looking forward to returning next time ... while a few stayed overnight at the Paris Landing Lodge.

Yes! ... Another year's worth of "lifetime" memories had been engulfed for us to relish. As the old proverb says, "Parting is such sweet sorrow" and we all left from each other's midst with a sweet sadness in our hearts. We all seem to draw strength from each other and will look forward to the cherished "next year".

Hopefully, we will see ALL of you then.

Note 1: The "Natchez Room" will be our "Hospitality Room" at the Pin Oak Lodge during the reunion. Lodge Management has agreed that:   After going through the buffet, we will be allowed to go back into the "Natchez Room" for our noon time meal.
