Our 53nd Year Reunion
this Year of 2006
<>*<>*<> Ain't God Good ... <>*<>*<>

God has been so good to this, our Huntingdon High School Class of 1953. His blessings have been poured out on each and everyone of us - in so many, many special ways ... and ... lo! for all these many years.

The 53rd Year Reunion was no different - as those of us saw - who gathered at Paris Landing State Park Hotel on either or both of these two very special days/nights of April 28th and 29th of 2006. Yesssss!!! Ain't God Good!!!

The numbers for those in attendance are as follows:

Attendance on Friday night, April 28th:
       		              5 classmates
				        3 spouses and/or friend
				        8 total

Attending for Saturday night, April 29th:

     				       21 classmates
				       13 spouses and/or friend
				       34 total

*(See Note #1 in legend re:   "Record Attendance" ...)

You may click here and see the names of those in attendance on both nights.

We missed those who could not be there for various reasons. And when it is said that "We missed you!" ... you can believe that ... really! Because .... This class really, really missed you.

That's just the way this HHS Class of 1953 is. Each of us wants to see and be with and around each other. There seems to be a longing in our hearts ... that is more like a "hungry" feeling that we get, to see each other from time to time. So those of you who were absent; ...... you were truly & sincerely missed ... so please believe that.

If there is any classmate, who hasn't ever been to our reunion or hasn't been in a long time ... please ... put aside any vanity or reservations ... and come and be with us. Right away, you will be made to know that you are loved and that "you do indeed belong" to our Class of '53. You will fit right in ... believe me!!!

Our thanks to Paris Landing State Park Hotel (near Paris, Tennessee) for their hospitality during our reunion. The management and staff "go out of their way" to make our stay a pleasant and a most memorable one. The rooms are nice, the dining is great and they supply us with a hospitality room. This is where we gather to play "catch up". Yes! Our hospitality room is the center of our activities and we appreciate the Hotel for allowing us the use of it.

Although this writer was not there in person on Friday night, those who were certainly enjoyed the fun, fellowship and, yes, the food ... and enjoyed each of those festivities together. On the Friday night of each year, the atmosphere is always so relaxed. Friday night is a great time to enjoy each others' company. This "Early Arrival Gang" was allowed use of the hospitality room on Friday night also.

Then about mid-afternoon on Saturday, the class began to reassemble gradually in the hospitality room - by those already at the hotel and also by the rest who were arriving. Around 5:30 o'clock, all classmates had arrived. Then, at about 5:55, all of us moved into the dining room where tables had been set up in order for us to eat together. After our fun, food and fellowship in the dining room, we moved back to the hospitality room.

Our class president, Butch Reams, gave us all an update on his son, Russell, who had been injured in an on-the-job accident in 2005. Russell has recovered nicely and is able to began enjoying activities again. Butch expressed his gratitude for the prayers and the support that the class had given.

After everyone quietened down, the business portion of our meeting began:

1) The class voted to go back to Paris Landing again in 2007 for our 54th class reunion. The first option on a weekend date was not available to us for reserving rooms, so the second choice of April 20th and 21st was accepted by the class.
**(See Note #2 in legend re:  "Contract" ...)

2) Larry read emails (or parts thereof) from classmates who sent their regrets regarding their not being able to attend this year's Class of '53 reunion.

3) Larry also reported on an effort that is underway for another reunion. This pertains to a HHS Combined Classes Reunion that will be comprised of several classes from the 1950's. This reunion is tentatively scheduled for October 5, 2007 (as I recall). Larry will keep us informed as plans are made and finalized.
***(See Note #3 in legend re:   "Other HHS CC Reunion" ...)

4) The next Quarterly Meeting for our class was brought to the attention of everyone. This Quarterly will occur again during this upcoming month of May. The Carroll Lake Country Club was selected after it was suggested - and no other places were mentioned ... also no objections. Therefore, we are scheduled to meet, greet and eat at Carroll Lake CC on Saturday night, May 20, at 6:00 o'clock. NOTICE:  Please try to remember that each Quarterly is scheduled for the second month and the third Saturday of that month.

5) Bertie gave an accounting of our "Class of '53 Flower Fund". She reported the bank balance is somewhere close to $340. An additional amount was collected from those of us in attendance, by "passing the hat". Therefore, an additional amount of near $140 was added to the previous balance.
The exact dollar amounts that Bertie reported - on both of these figures - "slips me" right now ... but should be close ...

After the business meeting was completed, pictures were taken. For the rest of the time together, most of us just "hung out" - before the pumpkin arrived ... OK! Our pumpkin now arrives way before midnight ... (Haha!) So! We soon found that our time together had come and gone ... again ... but "gone" only until next year.

Yes! Each year comes and each year goes ... but we keep coming back. We are "tough old birds", huh!!! Some (Haha!) have even gotten a year older ... but the love and respect that we share never fadeth. It seems that - more and more, we find God continuing to bless the HHS Class of 1953 ... not just in "part" but the "whole"..

<>*<>*<> Oh, yeahhhhh!!! ...... God is good .... ALL THE TIME. <>*<>*<>

Note #1:  *The "Record Attendance" was set in the year 2003 - during our 50th Year Reunion. For the Saturday night of that reunion, there were 26 out of the 31 surviving Graduates; 30 total Classmates; and an overall Total of 53 (included spouses, teachers, other friends) ...
Note #2:  **A "Contract" will be signed and returned ASAP - upon receipt ... The Reservation Office at Paris Landing was called May 1st (2006) and rooms were verbally reserved for April 20th and 21st, 2007.
Note #3:  ***Larry, on the "Other HHS CC Reunion", if this date is incorrect, please let me know ...
